GenCon SoCal 2004

Wandering in a winter wonderland

Well, as much as southern California can muster.

Arrived in Anaheim on the first. Met fellow con-goer Ben at the train station, and would up chilling with him until my room mates showed up. Spent Thursdy, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday shmoozing and attending seminars. Monday I came home.

Fret not, my roommates more than made up for me. :)

Met people. Among them Chris Pramas, Steve Perrin, John Wick, Stan!, Sean Reynolds, and a bunch of others I'm spacing right now. In goodies I picked up the following.

Other:

--Black9 Ops (Private, na)

The last was a project by Steve Perrin, which got cancelled by the publisher. He had a few printouts available at the con.

I also got a couple of CDs. One from the Game Mechanics, featuring various formatting aids and advice to help you get started doing d20 stuff. The other was from Sean K. Reynolds Games and had some of his material. First among them being The New Argonauts. A miniature for which was included, hand painted by Sean. As you can see I'm going to have a lot to write about here. Which one will I start with? Hmmm... ...I think I'll start with Charge and build up from there. So starting next Tuesday you'll be seeing book reports in this space. No, not book reviews, book reports.

As for Calistink 2004. We were expecting about 40 people. The organizer planned for 40 people. Donations from publishers and manufacturers were intended for 40 attendees. About 19 people showed up. 20 if you include Melissa Adkison, who came to see how things went. Ben, the organizer, worked hard to insure those 40 people got something at the very least. Which meant the 19 who did show up got a lot of stuff. And there was stuff left over. Which means a lot of cards and figures are being donated to Toys for Tots. At this moment I'd like to say thanks to all who donated. And to all who came to the event. I had fun, and I plan on attending Calistink 2005.

That's it for this installment. Tuesday, the 13th of December 2004 will feature a book report on Charge! from Living Imagination. Plus whatever I think of. See you then.

Re: GenCon SoCal 2004

Where did the book reports go?

Cheers
